Ancient Cypress Forests
Situated amidst a rare ancient Cypress Forest and the dramatic coastal cliffs Carmel Highlands, Stonescape emulates the beauty of the nearby Point Lobos State Park which painter Francis McComas called, “God’s greatest meeting of land and sea”. Painfully contorted, cryptically beautiful Cypresses pervade the property and surround many of its structures. The Cypress trees soften the refractive light of the ocean with atmospheric mists in the mornings and a suffused golden tincture in the late afternoons. Meandering paths weave throughout the trees and stone structures. This awe-inspiring natural landscape was enhanced with over 150,000 pounds of mossy boulders, large floating flagstone steps, gracious footpaths and seaward viewing posts.
